I’m gonna keep an on-going list of short stories and flash that I come across that knock me for six so that others who might not normally hit these sites can get the same pleasure.

Paul D. Brazill on fine form here with a longer version. Well worth the read for his ability to attract your attention with small details that can mean so much. This Old House
24/10/09
This one is a proper good Vegas crime read. He writes it noir and means it too. Steve Pruskys’ The Deal
Michael J. Solender with his NOT and his poetic abilities, writing things that strike a chord here, make you think there. He then, as I stumble across it bleats out this tale that is shocking as it is real. Icy Fist it’ll leave you with one of those, ‘oh shit’ moments. The kind your glad to have.

I’ve stumbled over a few great ones today.
The first is one by Jodi MacArthur over on The New Flesh. It’s called Rigged
Second story is another by Chris Allinotte by the title Induction
Lets make it more, this one is from yesterday, it slipped my mind to add it because I was too busy checking comments for my effort on 13 Days of Horror ![]()
It’s a longer piece by Chris it’s in issue 5 of the Oddville Press. It’s free and well worth downloading the PDF. His story is called Game Night It’s so different to anything I’ve read for a while, if you don’t laugh in a load of places then you’ve either got sand in your vagina or your nuts stuck in your zipper and you need to loosen the fug up
in a good way!.
Then there’s a shocking piece over at TKnC by AJ Humpage by the title, Dark Water Just where the fuck is Police chief Brody when you need him???
And Lily Childs piece Ghost Story is more than chilling and intriguing. Funnily enough, started reading Ghost Story this week, the one by Peter Straub, not read it before.
Here’s a crime angled one that is as fucked up as it is good, which means it’s very much so on both counts. It’s called Ringside by Martin Quinn Martin.
15/10/09
This is one that was a stunner. It didn’t even feel like reading it, those are the best kind. It’s by Chris Allinotte and called, Make ‘Em Cheer
13/10/09
Paul D. Brazill has hit the mark again over at TKnC with this piece of flash. It’s his attention to the small details and the language he uses that makes his work shine. It’s called, Everyday People
One from another of my favourite haunts is Smolensk – The Second Time by Oonah V. Joslin. I think you’ll finish reading and just think ‘Whoa’
09/10/09
This one will knock you out of your socks. It has everything in it, horror, humour, noir, and a shit-load of attitude. Schadenfreude by Adrian W. Ludens
26/09/09
If you like gritty, well written shorts then look no further as we have Fight-Night at the Asylumn by Brett Matthew Graham. My money’s on the twitchy-eye’d mother-something!
Another from the microhorror farm. Personal Ads After the Zombie Apocalypse by Chris Allinotte. I read it and thought Chris is a clever bastard. It’s odd in the way it’s great. The attention to detail, tuffgirl38 is a keeper!
19/09/09
Just found this little treat over at MicroHorror. First time I’ve come across this writer, definitely gonna hunt down some more of his stuff. The story is wicked in its innocence, just go read it! The Kid at the Dump byBrett Matthew Graham.
17/09/09
Christopher Grant has a crackingly vicious piece up called Jordan’s Turn. It’s a companion piece to For the Record brutal in violence and fast of pace.
If you’re after a some humour with violence thrown in then give Vallon Jackson’s Misconceptions a try over at TKnC
15/09/09
Read this one yesterday and it literally knocked me for six. It really is that good, so if you like crime, love noir and think violence it cool as tits then Panther McDaniels Works For No One by Jimmy Callaway is just for you. Panther is one hard McMother Fucker!
14/09/09
Been a few beauties over the weekend.
If you’re wanting a tale that is well written and harrowing then this piece is for you. Although, maybe not if you are of a weak disposition. A. J. Humpage’s Deceit
Paul D. Brazill is on fine form with yet another offering. This short piece is my kind of tale. Crimson Trail over at TKnC
11/09/09
Just read this one over at A Twist of Noir, it’s a very strong piece that’ll make you sweat. Dick Doc by Glenn Gray.
10/09/09
Michael J. Solender has been a busy little wordsmith of late cropping up all over the place. And today with this atmospheric piece, Cajun Queen
The Garden Man by Trinity Martin. It’s not often a story makes me squirm and feel uneasy but the thought of what happens in this, ugh. Tremendous Piece.
Tall One by Oonah V. Joslin is a good old fashioned one that flows ever so smoothly.
05/09/09
Paul D Brazill’s back on the scene with this tightly written piece of gold. It’s called Smudge, and apparently and hopefully Smudge will be coming back for a visit.
01/09/09
A deliciously written short piece from over at Microhorror, Constant Erosion by Mikki Zheng
Col Bury has a trinity of great tales over a TKnC, each one playing on the title of the eZine. One Thriller, One Killer and One Chiller – You’ll find them HERE
30/09/08
Michael J Solender has a flash up at TKnC that is an absolute belter by the name of Silvery Wings his mixture of imagery and humour are definitely his trademark.
Orange Dreamsicles and Belly Rings by Nicholas Ozment which is up at Everyday Fiction is a piece of flash which will mesmerize you.
25/08/09
Libby Cudmore’s Absolution that’s up on The Flash Fiction Offensive is a stunning peace of flash.
A Zombie one that stands out Small Towns Kills by Magen Toole over at MicroHorror.com
15/08/09
This one has just gone up at MicroHorror.com. It is sick and it is twisted, in other words it’s great and very well written: The Girl of Your Dreams by Chris Allinotte.
12/08/09
This one is fresh up on Powder Burn Flash: Another One by James M. McGoran is set in Ireland during the troubles and it literally leaves you gob-smacked.
Christopher Grant has just had one published on Thrillers, killers ‘n’ Chillers. Warning, it’s quite harrowing, but definitely powerful. It’s called Olivia
Sean Monaghan’s Automated Service is up on Flashes in the Dark; it made me chuckle, definitely worth the read if you detest automated calls!
Michael J Solender’s The Bluffs at Torrey is a belter. But also a worrying one as he’s just back from vacation in that spot.
This is from MicroHorror.Com, it’s only a couple of hundred words. If you don’t laugh then there’s something up with you. It’s called, Foul-Mouthed Teenage Zombie Girls by Suzie Bradshaw
Col Bury’s excellent and extremely harrowing micro piece Broken at TKnC
Just published on A-Twist-of-Noir is Keith Rawson’s – What I Lost Along with my Keys I literally only just read it, and sat there grinning.

Thanks for reading my flash piece and the supportive comment at MicroHorror. Really liked “The Pavement” by the way. Reminded me of the movie adaptation of “The Witches” by Roald Dahl when the little girl is trapped inside the painting. Also, just as an FYI, noticed you have a link to Libby’s story at Flash Fiction Offensive. I’m currently in the same MFA program as her, along with her sometimes collaborator, Matthew Quinn Martin.
