In Rip-Off Paris

This site will be used much like the one I have been running on the blog site. Keeping you upto date with submissions and their results, both the acceptences and the rejections. And also pointing you towards other stories that I come across upon the web by various authors both new to me and ones that I’ve come to respect. I’ll also be posting unpublished shorts of mine.

Also for the nosy people out there.

I’m 31 years old, married and live on the Isle of Man. Been writing for a long while but only decided  to try my hand at submitting stories in January this year. You can find links etc to where I’ve managed to wheedle my way onto.

What I’m reading at the moment:

Tooth and Nail by Ian Rankin – Book three in the Rebus series. Gonna get through them all but breaking them up with a different book inbetween.

*

What I’ve just read:

Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card. Cracking read, loved the first half and then it slowed down.

Neuromancer by William Gibson. That’s a frickin’ great book. Some of the concepts were so far ahead of its time. A must read.

Hide & Seek by Ian Rankin. It’s the second in the Rebus series, really getting into them.

Jurassic Park by Michael Chrichton. What can I say? I loved the film. But I saw the book the other month and decided to get it for the ‘To Read’ pile. But the book didn’t just kick the film’s arse, it gave it the beating of a life-time, knocked it all around the pub-car park and left it for dead on a bed of glass. The book is completely different to the film, characters have different roles, different dino’s, different people die, hardly anything that happens in the film actually happens in the book. I seriously urge anyone to read this book.

The Book Queue:

Neverending Story by Michael Ende – A favourite film of mine from when I was ickle, and still a favourite now. So giving the original book a whirl.

Hannibal Rising by Thomas Harris – Haven’t seen the film of this yet so figured I’d get the book read first so I can slag the film off and be all lofty as ‘I’ve read the book.”

The Box of Delights by John Masefield – Saw this and remembered the children’s television show of it from the 80′s. Have it on DVD, still as good. I think anyone who remembers it can remember the old magic man winding down that snowy and winding road. So figured I’d read the book from 1935.

And when it’s released on the 15th of October in the UK Matt Hilton’s second in his Joe Hunter series, Judgement and Wrath. Loved the first one and looking forward to the next slice of violence pie.

Life of Pi by Yann Martel: It’s been on my shelf for ages, figured I might as well give it ago.

I know it’s a varied list of genres, but I’ll read anything pretty much.

Paris, or any city is not a rip-off. Follow my travel advice on my latest distraction:

However, I’m going to Norway in November, so I expect my theory about cities being cheap if you look hard enough to be sorely tested. I’ll be the oneleft feeling sore.
